Signalment
Hypothyroidism occurs more commonly in medium to large breed dogs and in middle aged dogs 4 or more years of age. There is no sex predisposition with the disease, it occurs equally in male and female dogs. The breeds commonly affected include:- Golden retriever
- Doberman pinscher
- Labrador retriever
- German Shepherd
- Cocker spaniel
- Irish setter
